Dear Friends
Please forward to
anyone else that may be interested.
We are seeking
donations for the 7th Annual Houck Horse Company Cancer Benefit
being held on September 11, 2010. Every year Pete and Jill host this
event and all proceeds from the event are donated directly to a family
facing the challenges of dealing with cancer. The Houck Horse Company
Cancer benefit is a jackpot barrel race, dog races, pig roast, kid games,
silent and live auctions. Everyone is welcome - you don't have to
participate in the barrel race to enjoy the great day and evening festivities.
The barrel race usually ends about 4 (depending on the turn out)
This year the
benefit will be held in support of the Jensen family. Trisha Jensen is a very
active member in the barrel racing & horse community and also a great
friend to many of us.
On March 18th
the entire world changed for Trisha, Troy, Nathan and Allie. A parent’s worst
nightmare started this family on a whirlwind journey into the world of Cancer.
7 year old Nathan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Since that date the
family has been living day to day in the world of chemo and radiation
treatments, multiple doctor visits, physical therapy, occupational therapy and
participating in a clinical trial in Pittsburg, PA every 6 weeks. The
start of this month things looked very optimistic, on Tuesday Aug 10 the world
turned grim again with the discovery of a second tumor on his spine which he is
going into surgery for Aug. 12 We all remain hopeful and pray every day that
Nathan stays healthy and strong to continue to fight his battle and strength
for his family to remain strong to continue to support his young spirit.
Our barrel racing
community is dedicated to helping Pete and Jill to make this the best benefit
ever. We are looking to our friends and community to help support this great
cause and wonderful family and seeking donations of items, services or money to
be used toward the silent or live auction to be held the evening of September
11th.
